OakPrime Capital is led by Jean Carlo Oviedo and Michael Oviedo who, in collaboration with the wider Detroit community, aspire to revitalize neighborhoods, making them more desirable for residents and investors alike.
Jean Carlo holds a Degree in Microbial Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. He is an alumni of Wall Street Wizards, a non-profits program empowering individuals and communities with financial and entrepreneurship literacy, with an emphasis on obtaining college education. Jean Carlo credits the program for shaping his career, which has traversed a successful path, including stints at Thomson Reuters and NASDAQ, where he contributed – in an administrative capacity – to NASDAQ’s acquisition of Thomson Reuters’ Investor and Multimedia services for $390 million.
In recent years, Jean Carlo’s passion for design and real estate has encouraged his shift from corporate-oriented to community-focused projects. His considerable experience in short-term real estate investments in California have helped him gain deep knowledge of the property market and the aspirations of local residents.
Though Michael has a graduate degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz, he chose to follow his passion for acting by enrolling in Beverly Hills Playhouse. He has featured in a number of commercials, but is best known for his role in Investigation Discovery’s documentary television series Wives with Knives.
Michael has assisted his brother Jean Carlo on renovation projects, and is currently in the midst of launching a home improvement/remodeling show for Detroit housing properties.
